Heavily roasted oolong tea
What Makes Roasted Oolong Tea So Special?
Depending on how long and at what temperature the tea leaves are roasted, the different aromas of the oolong tea can be better brought out. However, it requires a lot of experience from the tea master to ensure that, for example, light floral aromas are not destroyed during the roasting process.
The following "fire levels" are used during the roasting process depending on the desired result:
- Low Fire Roasting:
This gives a light floral scent and the color of the oolong tea will be a delicate yellow color. The edges of the green tea leaves show a slightly reddish discoloration.
- Medium fire roast:
This is used when a fruity scent is to be worked out. The brewed tea glows golden yellow in the cup.
- High fire roasting:
If you want to achieve a caramel scent, roast the tea under high heat. the brewed oolong shows up as a dark yellow to orange color in the cup. the leaves lose their green colour
